Tania Simmons, Principal Speech Pathologist at Speech Pathology By Design, brings exceptional depth to her practice through her unique combination of qualifications in both Speech Pathology and Education. After graduating from the University of Wollongong in 2006 with a Bachelor of Teaching, she dedicated many years to classroom teaching, specializing in early learning and working with students with disabilities aged 4-18 years. This experience provided valuable insights into the critical importance of early intervention in speech, language, and communication development.
Driven by her commitment to communication excellence, Tania pursued her Master of Speech and Language Pathology at Charles Sturt University. Her extensive clinical experience encompasses both paediatric and adult therapy, with particular expertise in literacy development. She is certified in both THRASS and MULTI-LIT programs and maintains a strong commitment to evidence-based practice through ongoing professional development.
Tania's therapeutic approach emphasizes the importance of natural environment teaching and collaborative intervention. She actively involves key stakeholders - including family members, support workers, foster carers, and parents - in the therapy process to create a comprehensive support system. This collaborative methodology ensures that interventions are engaging, effective, and meaningful, enabling clients to build on their strengths and achieve optimal outcomes.
Tania offers both face-to-face and telehealth services. Her evidence-based, holistic approach reflects her dedication to delivering exceptional care that helps clients and their families achieve their communication goals.
A mother of two school-age children, Tania also brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to her practice, enriching her ability to connect with and support families in their communication journey.
